As part of the changes to the NHS brought about by the Health and Social Care Act 2012, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs) ceased to exist on 31st March 2013. Their responsibilities were taken over by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and the NHS Trust Development Authority.
Catherine House Surgery is a member of the South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group, a consortium of 35 GP practices in the area now responsible for the organisation, development and budgeting of local healthcare services for nearly 300,000 patients.
Through utilising the "front-line" knowledge of GPs and closely collaborating with relevant health and social care organisations, as well as patients, it is hoped that a more effective and efficient NHS will emerge, with prioritised use of resources, minimal waiting times, high quality services, improved patient outcomes and greater financial stability.
